I Got Rhythm – 100 Years of Rhapsody in Blue Gershwin and the Harlem Renaissance

Join us for an eclectic and thrilling evening featuring Rhapsody in Blue (1924)

In I Got Rhythm, The Hague music ensemble Soundwave Collective, Dutch-American actor Alexander Tol, Canadian singer Shanice Skinner, and French pianist Nathalia Milstein celebrate the 100th anniversary of George Gershwin’s most famous composition, Rhapsody in Blue. From wailing clarinets to swinging jazz rhythms: music, theater, and swing come together to share the story of the Harlem Renaissance, Gershwin’s boundless fascination with the (street and folk) arts in early twentieth-century New York, and the power of cultural exchange.
Commemorating the 100th anniversary of Gershwin’s masterpiece, we’ll take you on a journey through the vibrant world that shaped the composer who boldly brought jazz into the concert hall and transformed classical music forever.

‘An unforgettable celebration of rhythm, harmony and musical innovation!’
